Important Notes for International Students
- OSHC (Overseas Student Health Cover) is mandatory for all student visa holders. Cost: approximately A$600–$700/year for singles.
- Part-time work: Student visas allow up to 48 hours per fortnight during study periods. At minimum wage (~A$24/hr), that is approximately A$1,150/fortnight.
- Australian tuition fees are separate from living costs. University: A$20,000–$45,000/year. TAFE: A$4,000–$22,000/year.
- Proof of funds: The Australian government requires evidence of at least A$24,505/year for living costs when applying for a student visa.
